Playful Surrender

Every shoot starts with a conversation and a theme. This one started with the word "surrender" - and what it means when it's entirely chosen.

This collection features Sam Jones - a single mother of two from the Netherlands. A self-described control freak who, somewhere along the way, learned to surrender - and found she liked it.

She came to this session mainly curious. No nerves. Complete trust. When the rope went on for the first time her response was: "Curiosity, mainly. Excitement. Yay, a new thing!"

What she discovered during the session in Tenerife was something quieter than she expected. "It was as if the rope was following me, my movements, my body." Not restraint. Something closer to being held. "It's like someone holding you very close. It feels very safe."

She ended up feeling wonderful. And very tired.
And added... "I heard someone talking about rope as healing - and I get that."
